English 848:   Attention!

YOUR  ATTENTION, PLEASE!

In English 848 this spring, we will explore issues and ideas that demand your most valuable asset, your attention.   You will learn to read and write about the news, the war, urban legends, ads, images, popular culture, and identity.  You will learn where "cool" comes from. You will write essays, conduct interviews, expand your vocabulary, participate in a blog, build an e-portfolio, and discuss your ideas actively in class.  Through all of this, you will learn how to read yourself so that you can make the wisest choices as a writer, as a student, and as a person.
